On April 2nd 1990, NASA and The Astronauts Memorial Foundation announced details for a new education program and building to be located at the Kennedy Space Center.
The Center for Space Education was designed to be a state-of-the-art facility constructed adjacent to the Space Mirror Memorial. The center was designed to provide an active learning enviroment to foster a greater understanding of space and its exploration.
Designed by Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum of Tampa Florida. This group is also known for their design of the Smithsonian Institute’s Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C.
