History of the Challenger Columbia specialty license plate

You can help support AMF by doing something you already do…

The current Florida Space license plate design commemorating both the crew of Challenger and Columbia.

This Florida specialty license plate, which debuted on January 1, 1987, after the disaster, commemorates the Challenger Space Shuttle crew. It was the nation’s first specialty license plate.

This plate was meant to be the original redesign of the Challenger plate. Unfortunately the Columbia accident occurred during this time and the plate was updated to its current design.
