The Astronauts Memorial Foundation is partnering with Microsoft to launch the Super Harvest Moon Citizen Science Project. EVERYONE is welcome to participate by taking photos of the moon that night and uploading them afterwards.
The Super Harvest Moon will appear on October 6, 2025 between the hours of 8pm - 1am Eastern Standard Time. If you miss that night, you can still take photos on October 7, 2025 as the Super Moon will still be visible.
The purpose of this project is educate the public about what a Super Moon is and why it occurs, inform them about NASA’s Artemis Program (returning to the moon), and use the photos to identify how weather and vantage points effect moon viewing experiences.
STEPS to PARTICIPATE

2. Take 2 Photos that night (one close-up AND one showing local area)
3. Upload the photos and requested data to the form found at the bottom of the page
All participants will have the opportunity to vote on the BEST photos, and those photos will later be displayed at AMF’s Center for Space Education.
